A person who spiked candy with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were nine and 10.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a further hearing on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The man conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepson had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
Mrs Prior KC said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his family member notified the police about his concerns.
She said the defendant went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the law enforcement again.
